trying to use vagrant to install an opencog VM on debian 9

Greetings all,

    I attempted to follow the instructions at http://wiki.opencog.org/w/Building_OpenCog for "Linux Setup" which seem pretty straightforward.  I got virtualbox, git and vagrant installed without any trouble, but when I tried to run "vagrant up" (from the opencog/lib directory) I got an error about SSH negotiation failing, so I followed the instructions in the error message to disable ssh-agent (I used "ssh-agent -k") and also moved my .ssh/id_rsa out of the way.  Trying 'vagrant up' again got me:

Bringing machine 'default' up with 'virtualbox' provider...
==> default: Checking if box 'ubuntu/trusty32' is up to date...
==> default: Machine already provisioned. Run `vagrant provision` or use the `--provision`
==> default: flag to force provisioning. Provisioners marked to run always will still run.

And then when I try "vagrant provision" I still get an error:

ni@quark:~/opencog/lib$ vagrant provision
==> default: Running provisioner: shell...
An error occurred in the underlying SSH library that Vagrant uses.
The error message is shown below. In many cases, errors from this                                                          
library are caused by ssh-agent issues. Try disabling your SSH      

agent or removing some keys and try again.                                                                                                                             
If the problem persists, please report a bug to the net-ssh project.                                                                                                   
timeout during server version negotiating    

Any suggestions for what I can try next?

Hi Charles,

I know nothing about vagrant, maybe someone else does. ... that error message sounds generic, though, like it has nothing at all to do with opencog; its some vagrant issue. Google might know more.

 But if you are already running debian natively, you can install opencog natively, without bothering with vagrant.  If you feel that this is untidy/messy, you can also try docker or lxc ... both work fine.

Appreciate the advice (though I'm a bit sheepish that I didn't think of
this myself). I see that this error is quite common, but I'm following
a couple threads trying different proposed fixes and maybe I'll get it.

I did attempt to use the repository set up by Masayuki Hatta (from an
August 16th post to this list) but the install failed due to an
unsatisfied dependency (perhaps Masayuki is running debian testing or
unstable and not stable like I am) The package holding things up is
liblink-grammar5 and when trying to install that, I get an error that it
depends on libhunspell-1.6-0 but that package is uninstallable.

I haven't played with either of those (yet) but if I can't solve my
vagrant problem, perhaps I'll try.
