I am using the software version as appeared yesterday on your website
and am running Windows XP (32 bit).
I am new, however have experimented with SL, Opensim, Open Wonderland,
and now Open Cobalt, which i prefer over the others.

My concerns and questions are as follows:

1. When i attempt to launch a web browser or Open office from within
the environment i receive a "VNC server not connected" error. Can i
use my own machine as the server for those facilities?

2. I am on a LAN, but have a public IP also. I want to make my space
open to external use, propbably a small team of people who are
scattered over different countries. Upon running the windows command
prompter and typing 'ipconfig' i see that my Public IP address is not
static, it changes occassionally.
Will that affect my ability to allow external users to see my space?
What changes are needed to correct anything that may be neccessary?

Thanks in advance for any reply.
I highly recommend this software to anyone reading this forum.

Well for the first question you'd have to use your own server at least
for now...from what i know OC's default server for that is down so
setting up your own server is recommended.

Kanka, this is not exactly what you need but I believe it may be helpful as well.

Hi, all

I just uploaded a short video of two Open Cobalt images running locally,
following Carlos Crosetti's guidelines.

I added animated avatars sharing and jumping on the same space, just for
fun. Enjoy !!!

(Sorry about the low resolution of this video, but at that moment, I
hadn't a capturing program and I have used a home video camera instead.
I'll try to upload a better video, soon. )

Best regards,

Francisco
