Hello!

Our team is starting to ramp up on OpenCLOS for a couple of projects. We had a couple of questions come up that I was hoping the group help us with.

1. What are the requirements for a device to be supported by OpenCLOS? It looks like the ZTP and NETCONF (PyEZ) are both leveraged based on collateral and a quick review of the code. Anything else?

2. For devices that don't meet the full requirements (i.e. MX which AFAIK doesn't support ZTP), is there partial support available? For example, in a topology that uses QFX5100 for a leaf and MX for a spine, can OpenCLOS provision the QFX5100 via ZTP and the MX using say NETCONF?

Thanks!

Hi Darine,
Openclos would not create configs for MX and would not provision either via ZTP or netconf.

To use MX as spine I would suggest following steps ..
1. Generate configs as if you are using QFX2400 as spine and whatever leaf (QFX) you have.
2. Configure spine MXs manually based on the QFX2400 as spine configuration
2.a please note the loopback address
2.b make sure correct interconnect port are used with correct address.
2.c apply bgp and policy as in QFX spine config
2.d please note some of the CLIs might be slightly different than the generated spine configs for qfx.
3. Go through the ZTP process for leafs only using serial/mac.

Thanks.
