OpenCASA for Educational purposes

Dear all,

due to the current use of OpenCASA for educational purposes at some institutions, I am cosidering to elaborate a series of videos with the basic notions and procedures in order to make the learning curve easier.

I was wondering if it would be possible to post here a list of institutions and subjects (indicating briefly the educational goals) where OpenCASA is currently used or it is planned to be used in the near future. It would be of great help to me to know if the effort is worth it.

We are using Open Casa at the University of Murcia, Spain. mainly with MSc. students Biology and Technology of Reproduction

It is a great tool to learn/teach about CASA evaluation! Congratulations to all the team!

Hi,

We're using it in the University of Oviedo Masters of Reproduction Biology and Technology, subject Functional Analysis of spermatozoa.

This is a great resource because the students can install it in their laptops and practice on class and at home, we only have to share the videos with them.

We also use the Wilson-Leedy original plugin to teach them the procedure step-by-step and tinker with ImageJ.

I will be using for sure during my classes of Animal Reproduction, here at Universidade Veiga de Almeida (UVA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

I already started to demostrate last year,  but only with the sample videos that are in the website, not for my fresh semen coletions. I use to demostrate semen coletions during classes  in Equine, bovine e canine, but I still need to invest time to configurate my recordings to be used with openCASA.

Very good proposal, I think it would be useful. In addition to those
mentioned, I know that several of my colleagues from different
universities are using OpenCASA for training in different degrees and
masters (and also for research some of them). Here is a list:

Hi Carlos.

We want to use it in Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Veterinary Reproduciton and Artificial Insemination Department. 

But for now, we have not been able to get active and accurate results. We do not know exactly what the problem is. We are constantly getting 'NaN' error. If we can use it, we want to use it both in the education of our students and in our studies. I think the videos you want to prepare will be useful for us. Thank you very much.

At Sao Paulo State University, Brazil, we use openCASA to train undergrad and grad students. We did a nice study comparing the results from openCASA and Hamilton-Thorne software to evaluate mouse sperm motility that was the was the undergraduate thesis of a Biology study.
