Dear all,
it is a pleasure to announce that OpenCASA v2.0 beta version has been released.

You will find the new plugin with the installation instructions in the following link: https://github.com/calquezar/OpenCASA/tree/master/executables/v2.0.

Also, it has been published a new paper explaining the new functionalities. It is available (open access) in the following link: https://www.mdpi.com/2079-7737/9/8/207.

Summarizing, in the new version there are available three new modules for:
  • Sperm Accumulation analysis
  • Sperm Concentration analysis
  • Sperm Functionality analysis
Also, some improvements have been made. Although more tests should be made, the current version should work on Linux and  Mac  OS.  Furthermore,  some  changes  have  been  made  in  the  motility output:
  • It is possible to change the colors of the trajectories depending on the curvilinear velocity (VCL).
  • New option in the settings menu to automatically save video outputs. Please, take it into account if you repeat the analysis, because if you do not remove the saved videos, the software will analyze both the original and results videos.
  • The results tables are automatically saved:  individual and average tables in directory analysis, and individual and total tables for multiple directories analysis.
  • In the results table, the character ‘,’ has been replaced by ‘:’  in the header of the column 'time  interval'.  The comma generated problems when the user wanted to parse the csv file with other programs.
  • In  the  results  of  individual  tracks,  the  first  and  last  frame  for  each individual track have been added.  This information is valuable whenthe user wants to locate some specific cell in the video output.
  • In the results table, the columnsSampleandID have been moved to the  first  two  positions  in  order  to  facilitate  the  identification  of  the sample

Although the development of OpenCASA continues, we hope you will find interesting these new features. It would be great if some of you test the software and give some feedback. In particular, it would be interesting if some of you try to use the plugin in different OS distributions (Linux, Mac OS, etc). Due to availabitlity, it has been tested only in a limited number of OS.

Thank you everybody for your interest and comments during this time. Together we are making OpenCASA a great tool.
Best regards,
Carlos

Thank you for the hard work, Carlos. I confirm that the three modules
work perfectly in MacOS (Mojave, 10.14.6). A caveat, I have a limited
amount of videos and images in my personal computer, I'll make more
tests when we're back to work.
Best wishes,
Felipe
