I just noticed Julian has posted something about unit-testing on his blog:

Does anyone have a good understanding of the weave data-structure he is using?
My understanding is that it is used for calculating waterlines and the basic lower-level function is "push-cutter", i.e. a function that pushes the cutter into contact with a triangle along either the X or Y-axis.

The problem with my current implementation of weave/fiber is that it can lead to topological inconsistencies if/when the push-cutter function runs into trouble because of numerical inaccuracy. Julians Weave-approach is probably different and avoids this. It looks like a quad-tree?
