Hi CA Civic Lab,

 

FYI: The California Secretary of State has announced two public meetings to solicit ideas on how to implement last year’s Senate Bill 1349, which directs the Secretary of State to modernize Cal-Access, the state’s online system for campaign finance and lobbying filing and disclosure.

 

The public meetings will be Feb. 3 in L.A. and Feb. 9 in Sacramento. You can also submit written comments. Details are below.

Please be advised that two public meetings will be held to give interested and affected parties an opportunity to express their views on the desired features and electronic filing format of an internet-based, electronic system for reporting and disclosure of campaign finance and lobby activity pursuant to the requirements of SB 1349 (Hertzberg).

The anticipated agenda for the meeting is:

  • Opening Remarks – Secretary of State Alex Padilla
  • Background
  • Public comment on filing and disclosure features
  • Public comment on record format features
  • Adjourn


Auditorium doors will open at 10:00 a.m. in Los Angeles on February 3, and at 10:30 a.m. in Sacramento on February 9.  Anyone wishing to provide oral comment at the hearing is requested to complete a speaker’s card upon arrival.  Each speaker during the public comment period will be allotted three minutes for presentation.  Anyone wishing to submit written comments can do so by delivering a copy at the meeting or by e-mailing it to PRD...@sos.ca.gov.
