So KDE4 is here! And almost complete for SC part (excluding Kalzium due to dependencies problems). Just pkg_add it, and have fun!

So what to do now?

1. Port more apps. Most appreciated are: Amarok 2 and Calligra.

2. Help in testing KDE3 patches on ports@. Yes, they are needed for KDE4 to make official builds more fast and reliable.

3. Test actual KDE4 packages and report any problems (either here or on ports@).

Some additional notes:

* All KDE4 ports have debug FLAVOR, except resources: l10n, oxygen-icons, wallpapers etc. Beware that debug versions are much bigger than non-debug (sometimes a few hundred megabytes, or even more). Also note that FLAVORs does not nest, so the previous command shown will buld kdelibs, kde-runtime etc. without debug FLAVOR.

* While Nepomuk (core of KDE Semantic Desktop) is enabled by default, Virtuoso database that is used as Nepomuk's backend, is not installed automatically. You can build and install it from WIP tree too, from databases/virtuoso directory. And KDE4 will prompt you to do this (or you can shut it up by disabling Nepomuk completely).

* Akonadi is installed with SQLite backend enabled by default. It's the most reliable as of 5.3-CURRENT. You can freely switch to PostgreSQL or MySQL, however.

* Digikam on i386 (and, probably, other architectures) looks like being broken when it comes to using libkdcraw routines. The issue is still being investigated.

* Another known pitfall is Phonon apps tends to crash. It's not clear still, who's the source of the problem: Phonon GStreamer backend, GStreamer itself or libvorbis.
