Hi,

I have a general question about versioning: When we reference packages from a git
repository, we usually specify a PKG_URL_REV. Now, in some cases the full SHA of a given
commit is used (which leads to incredibly long file names), in others only the first
8..10 characters. I prefer the latter (actually 10 characters, because this is what is
shown on the buttons in github's web interface), but I'm not sure if that calls for trouble.

Any thoughts ?

Hello,
it shouldn't.
we can harmonize this.
Another solution is to "hide" PKG_URL_REV from PKG_VERSION (keeping
only major version) and increment PKG_REV when updating PKG_URL_REV
