Hello,

I'm a new user to openbiometrics.org. My goal is to access working code examples and instructions on how to use them so I can make progress on building these into my applications.

I was hopeful that the instructions and links found at http://openbiometrics.org/doxygen/latest/windows_msvc.html would let me accomplish my goal, but I'm sorry to say that I'm disappointed.

Perhaps months or years ago, the steps detailed on this page actually worked, but today they do not.

If I may ask, when was the last time the steps on this page were verified by those who are responsible for keeping them up-to-date?

Thank you.

I'm a new user of openbiometrics.org, or actually I would be, if only I posted technical details about my platform and explained which build steps failed.

This is an open source project, no one here is getting paid to help - so be nice.

Well I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed. The build instructions did indeed work months ago, although not years ago since of course this project did not exist years ago. You may not ask when the last time the steps on the page were last verified, but thank you for reporting that there is some sort of problem with the build instructions.

@jklontz,@sklum I suspect, although I don't know for sure, that peter97654 is disappointed that the link to Qt 5.0.2 is broken. It appears that since 5.1 is now the current release they have moved the  5.0.2 download to an archive section. Also it may be good to add an instruction to check out the last official release after cloning the repository.

I was able to get it up and running a few weeks ago.  The instructions aren't completely up to date but you should be able to find out where you're getting stuck fairly easy and find a workaround.  Unfortunately, I was switched off of the task to another job by my manager and don't recall what differences I made at this time.  I'll look at my notes again Monday to see if I noted the discrepancy.

That not withstanding, many people here are successfully running it.  It would be helpful for you to share where you are getting stuck and maybe a few screenshots of what you're seeing... then ask if anyone can help.  Everyone on this group seems to be quite willing to help.

I was able to use those instructions to download OpenBR a few weeks ago and asked several questions which are available further down the mailing list if you would care to read them. The developers here were very prompt and helpful (multiple responses on the same day I asked to my very basic questions). I would suggest showing some initiative or at the very least some manners before asking any more questions here.
