But map server seems to be down currently. Have somebody a backup of latest database to which I could contribute to?

What should be best solution for that situation? Should I start and setup my own map server?

Thanks

Hi Jakub

The OAM server has been down for quite a while.  I'm not sure there are any plans to bring it back up.

Running your own (public) server is actually a big deal. It requires money, time, lots of attention, and probably more time and money to keep it up.  It's lots of fun for a once-off project but is quite another thing month after month, year after year.

But please don't let me discourage you.  Another approach would be to set up a private server on your local PC and upload the finished product (slippy maps, airspace geo-data etc) to a public website.  There's no community aspect, but at least your data's out in the world.

I feel like a discussion on a community way forward is necessary.

Hi Glen,

Thanks for reply.  I do not want to run public server. (I probably have not enough resources)
But I want to contribute to existing up to date map data.. My motivation for do it in such way:
I am a instructor of Air Traffic Control and I thing it would be useful to let students manipulate with some real-word data. There will be two benefits - students learn how the aviation maps should be created and OAM project will have more maps.
But I need a least little community which use the project..
