Announcing the launch:
http://blog.openaustralia.org/2009/12/21/launching-our-new-website-planning-alerts/

And the website itself:
http://www.planningalerts.org.au

It's pretty exciting to get this out the door!

One thing I'd like to particularly highlight is if your local council
isn't on Planning Alerts yet then we've made it pretty easy to
contribute to the project. See
http://www.planningalerts.org.au/getinvolved.php

It's all open-source including the website code, screen scraper code
and server configuration. Enjoy!

Nice work, shame my local council have no online interface for viewing planning applications otherwise I would have written a scraper.

Try writing to your local council or give them a ring and see what you
can do to prod them to put their planning applications online.

They could even directly provide them in the format:
http://www.planningalerts.org.au/brisbane.xml

and then they don't have to write any fancy web stuff. :-)
