Hi everyone,

I had a great time meeting all the new and familiar faces at our pub meet last week and I hope you did too.

Judging by the fact people were asking me when then next one was well before the night was over I think it's safe to say we should organise these regularly.

I'm proposing the last Tuesday of every month from now on - this will mean the next one is in about 4 weeks on the 29th of July 2014.

To make things easy I'll also suggest we hold it at The Woolpack Hotel again but I'm open to suggestions.

On the topic of suggestions, please get in touch (on or off list) if you have any suggestions for changes or improvements to our next meet up.

Cheers,

Henare

P.S. I claimed a blue knitted sweater that one of us left behind. Contact me off-list and I'll bring it to our next meet up :)

All these plans sound good.

I like the idea of keeping it to a ketchup, rather than having
presentations and maybe reviving hacks/hackers for that type of thing. I
appreciated the unstructured time to ask questions about different projects.

But I'll still be there, presentations or no.

The blue sweater is mine :) Thanks for grabbing it. I'm terrible with
losing jumpers, maybe I should write my name on the label like primary
school.

Thanks for the feedback Luke.

Yeah, I agree - I'd rather keep this as a social kind of catch up too.

Excellent! I'll try and remember to bring it to the next meet up (or ping me if you'd like it before then).

Cheers,

Henare

If the dates are consistent I should be able to come more often :)

Given it is such an informal and social opportunity - what about having a topic for informal discussion each month? Not that I'm suggesting people cant' talk about whatever they want as well but it would be good to hear different people's views on a given topic ...like open source/open data an end in itself or a means to an end, pros and cons of various languages/frameworks for open data projects, role of data journalism, future of media, government friend or foe? etc. We could also read or watch something specific related to open data/civic hacking etc and chat/argue/debate informally.

I really like those suggestions Rosie. Let's discuss this more and work out a topic for August's meet at our next meet up.

Speaking of our next meet up... we're now on and ready for everyone to RSVP on our shiny new Meetup group: http://www.meetup.com/OpenAustralia-Foundation/events/194788272/

Please RSVP if you can make it on the 29th of July. We have the fire by the Library booked at the Woolpack Hotel again.

See you all then!

Cheers,

Henare

Sadly I won't be able to make this one. I will try and make the one after!
