Considering a relocation from Chicago to Austin

Hello Open Austin!

My wife and I are considering a relocation from Chicago to the Austin area. I'm currently heavily involved in the civic tech scene in Chicago through Chi Hack Night and would love to continue such work while spending some time in a new city!

Do you happen to know of any job opening or potential leads for work that I could pursue? My background is in public administration and GIS. I'm currently working freelance as a GIS and Data Science consultant, with the occasional web development thrown in. Heavily interested in issues pertaining open data, open source dev, urban planning, transportation, or sustainable development.

Would love to consider a relocation to the Austin area and hit the ground running. Interested in your thoughts!

I'm not aware of any particular GIS jobs right now.

We have a #jobs channel on our Slack (slack.open-austin.org) where people post civic tech jobs once in a while.

You should check out the Maptime ATX meetup https://maptimeatx.github.io.

Also, the TX GIS forum may point you in the direction of hiring companies. https://tnris.org/2015-gis-forum/
