Howdy Open Austinites,

We have two things we need to share.

1) Open Austin has been invited to give a presentation to the new CoA Department Data Liaisons next Friday 11/20 at City Hall and we have an ask. We created this "idea repo” (https://github.com/open-austin/liberate-the-data/) to gather community input on datasets we would like to see published in a machine readable format. Could you add an “issue” to this repo so that we can show the data liaisons specific community interest in datasets? If you’ve ever scrapped a city website for data, I’m looking at you!

2) We are hosting our year end event, Ship It Weekend, at Capital Factory on Nov 21-22. If you want to attend, please sign up ASAP. At this event, we're focusing on existing Civic Technology projects that just need that last little push. Many of these ideas started at Code Across, were prototyped at the ATX Hack for Change and have been hacked forward at our monthly Civic Hack Nights. Consider joining us to help with user testing, visual design, marketing, policy discussion and coding. Presentations will be on Sunday with a happy hour to follow to celebrate a great year of Civic Hacking!

In addition to partnerships with Capital Factory and Code for America, we also have potential sponsorship from Hired and Dell and we need to provide them with an estimated headcount so they know how much food and coffee to buy us.

Thanks for your support throughout the year!
