Support for sketches

Hello

I find inevitably that rough sketches are the norm while logging on the field. It is much easier to put an idea across with a sketch, than by explaining in words. For example, consider pointing out the spiral structure observed in a galaxy -- a sketch with all the knots marked is easier to show than the details of where the knots were placed, how the spiral arms were curved etc.

Does OAL have support for sketches? If not, can we add support for sketches in the schema? My sketches are vector graphics, since they are made with my tablet, but if you scan a sketch, that would be raster; so it should support some serialization for raster, and possibly embed SVG vector graphics. This would be a valuable addition to the schema, in my opinion.

I'm sorry, I just noticed that OM supports raster image formats. Can
we also support Vector while complying with the schema?

Hi Akarsh,

on the session and the observationType you've the ability to add a link to an image. (e.g. somewhere on the filesystem).

Would that fit your needs? (This is how Observation Manager does it. If you've sketches you can add the image links to the

observation (or session))

(The abstract imager type is used for cameras like the derived CCDcameraType... so the abstract imager type won't make much sense

for sketches.)
