Hi all,

on the welcome page of our group a very unpleasant announcement from
Google appears: as I understand this, we have to move our content from
the files section to another Google product I did not even hear
before.

Has anyone experience with Google Docs or Google Sites?

Hope that you are all healthy and well,
Tom

Yep.

I have some experience with Docs, but maybe the schema and docs should
go on Google Code or github instead?

I've worked a bit with google docs, but not sites much.  Google docs has great revision control.

All,

It doesn't look like Google Docs accommodates XML or XSD files, so I
think that is out.

We already have an unused presence on Google Code. I created it when
we were evaluating the move from SourceForge a few years ago. It is
located at http://code.google.com/p/openastronomylog/ We could use
this.

I looked at Google Sites and found that it may be adequate. Have a
look at http://www.google.com/sites/help/intl/en/overview.html The
site templates 'Project wiki' and 'Project work site' look very
capable.

Opinions?

In my opinion Google Code fits much better than Google Docs

Hi,

I think we should use Google Code in addition to our current project site at Google groups.
As all the project members in our Google Group have a Google Account that they can use also for Google Code, I think this is what makes most sense and is less disruptive.
Also Google is quiet good in linking/combining their products and getting great benefit out of them, I think this proposal makes absolute sense.

Best

Dirk
