Hi astronomy curious!! Welcome to this group!!

If you are here to know more about OpenAstronomy and what we do, then that's great!! OpenAstronomy is an umbrella organisation of many open source astronomy projects.

If what brought you here is Google's or ESA's summer of code, then that's awesome!! Just read the available student guidelines and this tips before posting:

Check what's been discussed before. Maybe your question has already been answered.
Write a meaningful subject in your email, avoid a general one like GSOC. If you detail the suborganisation or project you would like to know more about the better (e.g., "GSOC 2018 - SunPy - sunkit-image")
If you want to make the best first impressions, DO NOT start with "Dear Sir." and DO NOT ask to ask (read also the other information on the Python Software Fundation GSoC FAQ).
Try to keep the discussion in the open unless the mentors reply to you privately. If someone answer your question doesn't mean you should privately email that person with more questions. Having the discussions in the mailing list will help to share the load between all the people.
