Dear OpenAstronomy Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
My name is tasbi kaspiya, and I am a student deeply passionate about space science and open-source development. I am writing to express my interest in contributing to OpenAstronomy, with the aim of applying for Google Summer of Code (GSoC) with your organization.
I have gone through your website and some of your GitHub repositories (such as Poliastro and SunPy), but I’m currently feeling a bit overwhelmed and unsure about where exactly I should begin. I would greatly appreciate it if you could guide me on:
- How and when I should start contributing as a newcomer
- Which project(s) or repositories are best suited for a beginner who is eager to learn and contribute
- Any beginner-friendly issues or documentation that could help me understand the workflow and codebase better
I am highly motivated and willing to put in the necessary time and effort. My long-term goal is to study aerospace engineering and become a rocket scientist, and contributing to OpenAstronomy would be an incredible step in that direction.
Thank you very much for your time and for maintaining such inspiring and impactful open-source projects. I would be grateful for any advice or resources you could provide to help me get started.
Warm regards,
Tasbi kaspiya osrow
