Dear OpenAstronomy Team,

I hope this email finds you well. My name is Souvik Jana, and I am a third-year Computer Science Engineering student with a strong passion for open-source contributions, astrophysics, and scientific computing. I am particularly interested in participating in Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2025 with OpenAstronomy and would love to contribute to your projects.

I have experience in C++, Python, machine learning, data analysis.. Additionally, I am proficient in version control (Git, GitHub) and have solved numerous data structures and algorithms problems, strengthening my problem-solving skills.

I would appreciate any guidance on how to get started with contributions and familiarize myself with the codebase. If there are any beginner-friendly issues or documentation that I should explore, please do let me know. I am eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute meaningfully to your organization.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,
Souvik Jana

That's great! Note that at the moment, Google hasn't yet announced which organisation are selected for this year edition. However, it's good that you are already interested.

Please, read the information we've got on our GSoC page. There you will find the different sub-organisations participating under the OA umbrella, as well as how to get started.

Looking forward to seeing you in the community!
