Hello OpenAstronomy Team,

My name is Ayaan Shaikh and I am a second year student in Information Technology at VJTI, Mumbai. I am passionate about open-source and deeply intrigued by the intricacies of the OA organisation.

I have worked with C++, python and its libraries, DSA and web development as well. I have focused on both development and problem solving. My interests include Astrophysical simulations and ML in Astronomy.

I would love to get advice on deeply understanding the OA organisation and where contributions would be most welcomed while also making meaningful connections in the community.

Looking forward to collaborating! Any guidance or suggestions for first contributions would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Ayaan Shaikh

Hi Ayaan,

Welcome!!

I would love to get advice on deeply understanding the OA organisation and where contributions would be most welcomed while also making meaningful connections in the community.
Looking forward to collaborating! Any guidance or suggestions for first contributions would be greatly appreciated.

OA is an umbrella organisation, so we don't have much where to accept contributions, however, look at the member sub-organisations, mostly the ones taking part on this year programme. They have various repositories, with plenty of issues. Normally, the issues are labelled as "novice"/"first-good-issue"/... Look through them and find something you think you could tackle.

Find how to contact with those sub-organisations on our website and feel free to ask there for more information about a particular issue.

Have a wonderful day!
David
