Hello everyone,

I hope this message finds you well.

My name is Asmitha, and I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I am writing to express my interest in participating in Google Summer of Code 2025 with OpenAstronomy, particularly under the Stingray sub-organization.

From a young age, I have been deeply passionate about astronomy and astrophysics, especially topics like black holes, space-time, and observational data analysis. While my academic background is in computer science, I’ve always sought to bridge the gap between my technical skills and my passion for space science.

I have hands-on experience in Python, along with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, and Plotly. I’ve previously worked on a crop prediction ML model, a nutrition analysis app using Gemini API and Streamlit, and I’m currently contributing to a retail store compliance AI system using computer vision.

The project idea involving an interactive database for X-ray timing observations resonates deeply with both my interests and technical background. I have started familiarizing myself with the Stingray codebase and project documentation, and I plan to begin contributing to issues and submitting PRs shortly.

I look forward to engaging with the community, learning from the mentors, and contributing meaningfully to the project.

Thank you for your time and guidance.

Best regards,
Asmitha
