Hello,
I wanted to train Indian numer plates for the OpenALPR Library.
I wanted to pose few questions before i start the training process.
1)Is there any flexibility in OpenALPR where we tell it to recognize the number plate from the samples(as per the pattern) only if the background color of the plate is yellow. Can the trained data recognize color or does it use grayscale threshold.

2)Specifying number plate format
Indian number number plates will be of the format:
L - Letter
D -Digit

"LL DD LL DDDD"
Can we have the flexibility to tell the OpenALPR to look for the trained patterns as per the format specified above instead of looking into the whole dataset pattern.

Example:
First two places of the number plate will always be letters. so do we have any flexibility to tell  OpenALPR to look for the Letter datasets and ignore digit datasets in this case.

Hi,

1. OpenALPL supports pattern based recognition this is called post process, you can specify your required patter in "in.pattern" located at C:\openalpr_64\runtime_data\runtime_data\postprocess.

and comming to the yellow number plates, i am also looking on this issue.

2. the pattern contains

base @@##@@####
base @@##@####
base @##@####

@- characters[A-Z]
# - NUMBER [0-9]

I hope this information will helps to you.

I have implemented the solution that you are asking about here. Yes you can follow that set pattern of number plates and for the detection part you need to train your model well with a large amount of images, I have that dataset if you want that.

Hi Saiyam,
I am working on a similar problem. Could you please share the link to your data or mail instead.
Thanks in advance

Hello Saiyam Jain,

Dude if you still have the dataset, could you please provide to us. It would really helpful for our project. We couldn't find the proper dataset for training.
Thanks in advance
