Hi,
After configure the openCV and the ocr openalpr works very good with chilean plates horizontal using eu config values using the new cl.traineddata and cl.xml  files.

But when the plate have  a little angle it don't recognise nothing (see the attached file).  Maybe is because dimensions are very different but when I change it for the Chilean values openalpr works worse.

I don't no how to configure the first values, I didn't find any documentation about it.

Please help!!

Guido

This is with a custom trained detector (i.e., it's not the US or EU detectors that come with OpenALPR)?

Hi Matt,
Yes, I trained the OpenCv Cascade and the OCR and work better than using eu default trained data but always using eu openalpr.config.

When I overwrite the config params for Chilean plates works worse.

Thanks!

This recent issue may relate to improving recognition rates at those angles: https://github.com/openalpr/openalpr/issues/84

As far as the dimensions go in the configure file, it could vary a bit.  The absolute correct measurements may not always produce the best results.  It's usually a good idea to setup a benchmark test (using the end-to-end benchmark program in OpenALPR) to test changes wrt to the accuracy score.  Having a good size sample (at least 100 plates) to benchmark against should give you a good indication if the values are improving accuracy.

Hello Guys

I'm trying to identify Chilean plates with a Raspberry pi after installed OpenCV and OpenALPR worh good with US and EU plates, but i can't find the way to work with Chilean plates, I saw a few guide where I should train the OCR but I'm not sure if this is the way to work.
Can you tell me which should be the next steps to get OpenALPR working good with Chilean plates.

Thanks in advance

Training a detector and OCR for Chile would improve accuracy:

No, finalmente encontre un SW que detecta los platos chilenos sin problemas y activa el gpio de la rasberry, aqui está el link del sw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d34II6pAR1Q

Hola Pablo:

Sería posible que compartieras el código? La persona que publicó en youtube ya no lo hace...
