Hi
I would like to detect Israeli license plate.
As you can see the data on the plate is: 54-496-66
When I run alpr from CLI against this image I get:

plate0: 10 results

    - 49666 confidence: 87.7073

    - 49S66 confidence: 74.9448

    - 4966S confidence: 74.5477

    - 496G6 confidence: 74.3758

    - 4966B confidence: 73.8586

    - 4B666 confidence: 73.0984

    - 4966G confidence: 72.4051

    - 49B66 confidence: 71.861

    - 4966 confidence: 71.3063

    - 4S666 confidence: 70.9148

It is clear that the first 2 numbers ('54') were dropped. (I have verified it against other images as well)

How can I configure alpr not to drop them?

I am looking at the config file openalpr.defaults.conf but do not find an option that will stop skipping the first 2 numbers?

Thanks

It's not skipping them. I think they are getting cropped by the detector and never make it to the OCR.
I think You should look into training the detector.
BTW what is the width of these plates? Are they wider than EU plates?

Hi
The Israeli plates are 10.5 cm X 52 cm.
It can contain 2 patterns:
  1. Seven digits: XX-XXX-XX
  2. Eight digits:   XXX-XX-XXX
Is there a way to configure the library and make it send all digits to OCR?
Can I override the plate default width and by doing that causing all digits go to OCR?

thanks

Avishay

I would like to do the minimal effort to try and  support the Israel plates.
I want to do it without training the engine against Israeli plates. (I can see that the number recognition is good but first 2 numbers are removed from the result)
From documentation I understand I have to:
  1.  create a new config file under /runtime_data/config
  2. create (?) a new patterns file under /runtime_data/postprocess
  3. Anything else?
Thanks

Have You tried setting the country as "eu" in the config file? The plate dimmensions are almost the same, it should work.

Hi Avishay,

I'm facing the same issue with the Israeli License Plate Recognition.
Did you succeed to recognize the Israeli Plate?

Thanks
