Non - rectangular license plate

Hi all,

I know that Openalpr works the best with rectangular images with its edge detection. However in my country Malaysia, some older license plates are not complete rectangular which makes it very hard for the openalpr to detect the license plate. May I know if there is any way I can improve this? Any tips will be greatly appreciated!

I am using the Openalpr 2.3.0 release, the free one and not the commercial one.
