Hi all, quick announcement:

We have been running the daily OpenAlex refresh job from approx 6pm-11pm Eastern Time.

We're moving that later, to  1am-6am Eastern Time. This fits better with global usage patterns and our daily development timelines (because it ensures all our changes every day make it into the next daily update).

The job will run at the normal time right now (starts in a few minutes) but will run at the new time (7hrs later) starting tomorrow.

This will not affect most users in any way, since everything will still be <24hrs old, no matter when you check. But for users trying to sync your own harvesting to our most recent data, you'll want to update your scripts (bearing in mind that these start and stop times are approximate, not exact, since different runs take different amounts of time).

We're working speeding up the daily update job (which gathers and enriches new works, creates new authors, recalculates citations counts, and everything else to make the dataset up-to-date). When that's done we'll move to twice-daily updates or more. But that's some time in the future.
Best,
Jason
