Announcing publishers

Hi OpenAlex community!

This is an overdue announcement that we have added the Publishers entity to OpenAlex. We currently have about 10,000 publishers. They are available in the API, in the data snapshot, and in the web UI.

Our publisher data is closely tied to the publisher information in Wikidata, and most publishers have a Wikidata ID.

Publishers are linked to sources through the host_organization field. There is a hierarchy of publishers, so that publishers may have children and/or parents. See the "lineage" documentation to learn more. You can look for works from a given publisher (or set of publishers) using the "locations.source.publisher_linage" filter.
