Article types

Hi OpenAlex team and users,

Was just wondering if there is any plan to parse works into more specific types, similar to how PubMed and ResearchGate do it; "journal-article" entries can be further categorized into Research Article or Review Paper, etc. I know some of your data sources may not support this categorization, but was just curious to see if it is a possible implementation as it would be extremely useful.

Hi Arnav,

Yes it's definitely possible and is on our roadmap. We can see it being added as a separate field from "type".

However, there are quite a few things we want to get to before it. So further categorization of article types will likely happen later on. Thanks for the feedback and letting us know you are interested in it!
