Hi folks,
The OpenAlex team is meeting next week in person for a three-day hackaton tackling Author Entity Resolution (AER)*.
We're very excited to start advancing work and we know that our communities of users have been patiently waiting for improvements to our author profiles for some time now.
As we scope out and test some of our new developments, we wanted to see if anyone had gold sets of author-publications matches that they might be able to share? These are incredibly valuable in assessing precision and recall trade-offs of different matching algorithms we might deploy.
We know about ORCID, S2, and some other well-known open datasets, but we also know that many institutions have gone through extensive curation efforts to match their researchers to their publications.
If you have something that you're able and willing to share for this purpose, please send me a note.
Thanks in advance,
kyle
* for those who follow closely, we've started saying AER instead of AND because using the term AND for 'author name disambiguation' caused unnecessary issues. Apologies to those who enjoyed the confusion associated with using a common word and boolean operator for one of our major enrichment processes.
