i want to use an proximity operator to have only relevant results in openAlex. indeed i want to catch papers that have in the full text the following word
expertise collective inserm OR expertise collective de l'inserm
How to search that with proximity operators please?
regards
Bénédicte

Hi Benedicte,

You may do this with OQL, using proximity (within N) combined with truncation (*):

https://openalex.org/q?oql=works+where+full+text+has+(+within+2+(%22expert*+collecti*%22,+%22inserm%22)+or+within+2+(%22collecti*+expert*%22,+%22inserm%22)+or+within+1+(%22expert*+collecti*%22,+%22l%27inserm%22)+or+within+1+(%22collecti*+expert*%22,+%22l%27inserm%22)+)
  • within 2 ("…", "inserm") requires the quoted phrase and "inserm" to appear within 2 words of each other, in either order. That covers "expertise collective de l'Inserm" as well as "Inserm collective expertise". In the classic API this is written "phrase"~2~"inserm". See Phrase and proximity search.
  • * handles the French/English variants and plurals: expertise, expert, experts, collective, collectif… Wildcards also work inside quoted phrases and inside proximity operands. See Wildcards and fuzzy search
  • Both word orders are needed ("expert* collecti*" and "collecti* expert*"), because word order inside a quoted phrase matters.
Best
Eric
