Hi All,
This is a very intimidating email to write to a community that includes professional data scientists whose stock and trade is R with extensive experience. But in the spirit of giving back to the community, I thought I would share the non-expert R code I’ve written to query OpenAlex for institutional outputs related to Read & Publish agreements: https://github.com/jjfriedman/TA-Research.
As you can see, it’s heavily dependent on the wonderful people who manage openalexr who I can’t thank enough for their fantastic contribution to our community.
I am sharing this code here, in the hopes that it may help someone else in a similar bind, who is trying to look at how Read & Publish agreements may be affecting institutional outputs, but who finds the raw output of OpenAlex challenging to work with.
I’m very happy for any feedback (positive and negative) that anyone has.
Warm regards,
Jason
