Dear colleagues,

I have been spending quite some time on some issue with OpenAlex data and it turns out the following was the case, and I want to share this with you:

Works with more than 100 authors are truncated --> https://docs.openalex.org/api-entities/authors/limitations

In the back of my head I kind of knew that when you retrieve a list of Works through the API that the author list is truncated on the 100th author. To get the full author list one should go to the individual record of the Work.

But I totally didn't know and I didn't expect this either, that this also holds for filtering on the Works endpoint. This means when you search Works for your institution by ID or by ROR, you will only find records that match your search on the first 100 authors.

Does anyone know if this is going to change in the near future ? On the webpage it says: "We plan to change this in the future, so that filtering works as expected. "

All best,
