I won't be able to attend the open house as I will be in California. However I will be accessible via e-mail and phone (206-931-3655) if needed.
I have sent invitations to the following groups last week and will re-send them today:
- Staff and volunteers at 15 local community organizations
- See list of these orgs and their reps at the bottom of this e-mail
- Also see the news release below the e-mail addresses.
- E-mail list of the City of Bellevue's Volunteer Coordinator
Lastly, please keep in mind that brother Nadeem's cell phone is mentioned as the contact number so please be sure he is able to answer his phone (or that someone else has his phone to answer) at all times on the day of the event. As the contact person, he is guaranteed to get a lot of calls asking for last-minute directions or other questions ("how do I get to the mosque from Bellevue Mall", "is the place wheel chair accessible", "do I have to wear a scarf?", etc.)

(Bellevue, WA 6/16/2011) - On Saturday, June 25, the Islamic Center of Eastside (ICOE) will welcome neighborhood residents and organizations to an event designed to increase understanding of Islam and American Muslims.

There are an estimated seven million Muslims in America today and some 3,000 mosques, Islamic schools and Islamic centers across the country. The state of Washington is home to over 40 mosques and over 100,000 Muslims.
The event will feature multimedia presentations and opportunities for open dialogue. A barbecue lunch will be served. Attendees will also have an opportunity to observe an Islamic prayer at 1:30PM.
"We invite friends and neighbors of all faiths to spend time with their Muslim neighbors," said ICOE Outreach Committee Member Ahmad Nadeem. "We have a great program and expert chefs on the barbecue grill!"

The Islamic Center of Eastside (ICOE), also known as the Bellevue Masjid, is the first permanent mosque established in the eastside of Seattle. ICOE has been serving the community for the past 14 years. ICOE conducts the five daily prayers and the weekly Friday prayers. There are a variety of educational and other programs for the benefit of the members of community.
