So I need to create a couple thousand user accounts and home directories on Resara. Not and issue normally but I can't seem to get the server to create the user shares. It doesn't seem to have any issues creating the accounts themselves. Any ideas on how to automate the creation of the shares?

Not sure...does the share get created on first log in?

Nope I've getting a this error when I attempt to create the share:

Failure while trying to create home path ReturnValue(Generic error: "Share does not exist") for row: ("Test User1", "Test", "User1", "testuser1", "domain users, students", "OU=YOG 2013,OU=Students", "\\%SERVER%\%USERNAME%", "MustChangePassword", "launchapp.bat", "H:")

The shares themselves should be created in \volumes\Hard/ Disk/Students/ but I can seem to find a place to set that or create them in bulk with permissions. According to the directions I got a long time ago rdsimport is supposed to be able to create the share if it doesn't exist. I can't however see where permissions are set or where the folder path is set. Any ideas?

Any ideas on share creation? I could manually edit the config files if I knew where they were at.

I've been able to create the shares via manually editing the smb config in /usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf. I have to create the folder manually but I can't set permissions on the share. There has to be a better way to do this.

Hello,

If you are using the rdsimport tool , then the correct way to specify
the home path is "\\%SERVER%\SHARE\%USERNAME%".

The share must exist before you create users. Most of our customers
put users in a folder in a Users share. Something like
\\%SERVER%\Users\2015\%USERNAME%".

The path is case sensitive, so make sure the cases match exactly. Once
you have the share specified properly, the folder will be created, and
permissions set.

I have attached the rdsimport documentation for reference.

Is there anyway to bulk create the shares before hand? Our share are set as \\%SERVER%\%USERNAME% and only the user and domain admins group have access to the individual user shares.

I've attached the .csv we are using to create the users. When I pre-create the share I still get a malformed path error. However it does correctly insert the share into the proper fields in the user's configuration and after manually editing the share permissions it does work.
