Found the printing issue....a recent patch broke it. So...here's the workaround (I will bake it into the image over the weekend and post a new image.
I'm sorry I didn't catch this, but I never changed anything so I had no idea it could break.
To fix....we no longer use the printing dialog in System Settings
First...go to (as administrator) System Tools > Administration > Users and Groups
Manage Groups. Find the group "lpadmin"...select properties...and tick the boxes for student and teacher
next, lets make a menu item
open terminal (you'll need to do this for admin, teacher, and student)
type alacarte to bring up the menu editor
click on System Tools and then "new Item"
Type in "Set up a Printer" (no quotes)
for the command use: system-config-printer
you can use "Set up a Printer" for the comment (no quotes)
Choose an icon by clicking the icon....I found a printer icon by going up about three files in the list.
then once you're done, drag the new item up to the top of the list so it appears near the top.
