Ok...the 2012 image is done (it's in Beta and ready for you to bang on it)  We will be announcing and releasing the new version of the image and the imaging tool at  FOSSed.  Brendan has done a total rewrite of the imaging tool...you are going to LOVE it.  The new design makes it a whole lot easier for us to create and manage images...it's also a more maintainable product.  It's completely GUI based...and the progress bar is very accurate now.  The imager is actually based on an Ubuntu Live CD....although it's been stripped down and modified.  We no longer have to put "hooks" into the system for the "firstboot"....now it can all be done from the imager.  Wait'll you see it...Brendan has really outdone himself this time.  I'm the image developer...I've been working on getting it all smoothed out for you.  This year I used Edubuntu 12.04 as my base for the image.  It provided me with a few more things to use for the starting points.  I developed the entire image in a VM this year, thus I was able to escape the confines of specific hardware and screen sizes.  To date, my own testing has been excellent.  I've deployed on several different forms of hardware with nary a hiccup.

At FOSSed...we'll show off the new image and imager during the DOG & PONY SHOW on the afternoon of the second day.  We'll also be running the lab this year on Open1to1 instead of thin-clients.  If you want to see the imager in action...get there early afternoon on Sunday....we'll be imaging the lab as we set it up.  Once we release the image....(I'll be posting it in VM form as well....this years image was built entirely in a VM, thus the code has never touched any "hardware")...we'll expect ya'll to bang on it and report bugs to be squashed.
