I have tried booting on a live cd, and doing a update-grub,  and reparing grub but it doesn't seem to help,  any ideas?  Do i need to rebuild my custom image?  I've completed harddrive diagnositcs on the computer and they pass.  I can boot off a livecd with a grub tool, and it can find the OS and will allow me to boot off it.

If it is an EFI model, you may be able to set the OS boot mode to
legacy in the BIOS. That fixes the issue on some EFI machines, but not
all.
