How to handle back history in Web application

Hello Community,

I am creating a web application were i have to handle backspace button which works as back button on browser.

I have googled the issue and implemented the suggestion but not able to get rid of it.

I have tried,

window.history.back(-1)

history.forward(1)

history.clear

and many more

Might be i am not able to implement it correctly.

It's very critical for me to handle this situation. Your help will be useful
