This is pretty clearly stated, we need individuals, organizations, companies, and local government institutions to tell Google that Portland is the right place to do their optical fiber to the premises test installation.

And please pass this on to everyone you know in Portland.

Subject: Google Fiber: We need nominations

Friends,

I appreciate the creative thinking to call attention to this effort. But we need to get folks to go to the Google Fiber site and nominate Portland. That is the single best thing we can do and we need large numbers of people to be successful.

The first and best way to accomplish this is for you to ask your friends to nominate Portland and for them to ask their friends. It should be a simple emotional plea.

Secondly, we need to get large groups and institutions to help. Does anyone know an influencer at PSU, OSU, or U of O?

Similarly, does anyone know any other large groups like the SAO, or other groups with large networks? I can cover, the PAF, the PNCA and some others.

This will be our best shot. It's simple but it requires attention to make it happen.

Who is with me?

Jerry

We have two pages with nominating tips:

http://www.portlandfiber.com/nominate-portland-now/
http://www.portlandfiber.com/2010/03/04/tips-for-nominating-portland/

The nomination period may end today. Today is the deadline for cities
to respond, and may also be the deadline for nominations from
residents, though I hope it isn't. I think the best thing we can do is
to get folks to nominate and also get people to realize that their
involvement today and going forward will be crucial to fiber, from
google, the city or whoever else. It's not enough to say that other
people are handling it.

Thanks for helping,

Michael
