UniversalGiving™ is seeking a Part-Time Engineering Consultant with
the following skills:

* 4+ years of software development experience
* Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
* Strong debugging skills and principles
* Self-directed problem solver
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Experience with client-side web technologies such as DHTML, CSS,
AJAX, and Javascript
* Experience with server-side Java technologies such as Struts,
Hibernate, Tomcat, JSP, or J2EE application servers
* Experience with SQL databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL
* Knowledge of design patterns and object oriented modeling (e.g.
UML)
* Strong data modeling skills
* Ability to design and tune for performance and scalability
* User-centered design principles

Previous experience with these technologies is important, but we also
are
impressed by highly-motivated individuals with solid CS backgrounds
who
are adept at separating interface from implementation in the way they
think, while remaining mindfully focused on user experience.

Responsibilities include:

* Strong work ethic, with flexibility and willingness to work
according to priorities set forth by the organization’s Product
Development Annual Plan, including weekly and monthly deadlines
* Robust development skills in a multi-tiered environment: client-side
Ajax-based software, server-side J2EE software, object-relational
persistence, and MySQL.
* Proven experience with scoping, developing, and implementing new
user features and new web components
* Keen ability to work closely with UniversalGiving’s Product
Development Senior Management and Engineering Team, with unyielding
professionalism and sound communication skills
* Solid background in creating new site content and maintaining
ongoing site update requests
* Proficiency in creating, writing, and editing technical
documentation
