One thing that would be very useful is for Adobe to donate the
flexexamples.com domain to Spoon, so the community can continue giving
essential guidance to new developers for using the Flex SDK.

As a published Flex writer and a longtime Flex developer, I would like
to volunteer to maintain ongoing examples from the new Spoon/Apache
Flex SDK for flexexamples.com if and when Adobe decides to contribute
that domain to Spoon.

Thanks,

I checked today. flexexamples.com is NOT owned by Adobe. It is owned
personally by Peter deHaan who is no longer at Adobe.
Adobe does own flex.org and used by Greg Wilson's evangelism team.

Well maybe Peter deHaan would donate the domain?

Guys,

now when Flex is going to be contributed to Apache, does that mean we
can use "Flex" in domain name without Adobe's approval?

I recently wanted to start my blog flexphpdude.com and Adobe guys told
me they should be the owner of this domain. After 2-3 months of
waiting I still haven't resolve this problem and I'm think I will
launch it without Adobe's final reply.

I'd go ahead and go for it.  I've used flexjunk.com since Feb. 2008.  "Flex" is such a generic name I don't think Adobe could actually enforce it anyway.  This in no way constitutes legal advice, just sharing my experience.

I have been using everythingflex.com for 7 years. Originally with a Flex 1.5 license gifted by Matt Chotin.

I think this relates to another question: is Adobe also donating the
"Flex" and related trademarks to open source community?

As of now the following are on Adobe's trademark list:

Flex®
Flex® Builder™
Flex® Charting
Flex® Data Services

See the current guidelines for trademark usage: http://www.adobe.com/misc/trade.html

Mike, is there any progress on this subject?

Yesterday I was thinking about similar idea - to create a web site on
which we can promote successful Flex or AIR projects. Flex.org has a
nice showcase section but I believe we can create a place where you
can see even more example how to use Flex and what kind of amazing
projects we can create. And here we could more people involved in
moderating and posting.

Domain name: flexshowcase or whatever:
We can divide projects by "technology": AIR for desktop, Flex for
desktop, AIR for mobile, Flash for desktop, Flash / AIR mobile apps...
We can divide projects by categories: Enterprise, digital publishing,
education, games, developer tools ... or maybe go into subcategories
(advertising,school,insurance,medical apps, ...)
Which projects to promote at start: Own projects, some projects we've
seen, MAX award winning projects,....anything that says: I was born to
promote Flex and AIR

Like I said, content could be handled by many people, we can link it
with many other websites, flexsamples, our blogs, community sites. We
can set a website by using Wordpress or some other CMS.

What do you think about this idea? Maybe there is enough websites
about this topic?

Cheers,
Ivan

Don't expect much progress on this for a while. Just doing the apache work is keeping everyone busy but all of these items are on a list we are asking them to deal with.
