to Open Source ILS - CO Libraries
A couple of quick news items of note--
First, some may be wondering, "Where is that report we've been
promised?" Well, it's being worked on. Rather than have it written by
committee, I've taken the bull by the horns and have started on the
early draft. This draft will then be circulated to the Task Force.
The "final" report that comes from the Task Force will still be
considered DRAFT--completely open to the world for comment as well as
suggestions for changes, enhancements, etc.
At any rate, I've been targeting the end of this month to complete my
part of things, and given that it's now the end of the month...I'm
sorry to report that my part is not 'quite' done. If only I didn't
have my day-to-day job taking me away from this effort!
Second, some of you may be hearing through the grapevine that an
initiative is stirring up related to a possible statewide ILS. This
effort is being spearheaded by a variety of public library directors.
The initiative has gained steam during a meeting of the Denver metro
area library directors (two weeks ago), then most recently as a result
of discussions at the Public Library Directors' Forum held in Aspen
this week.
Keep your ears to the tracks--the more we all communicate about these
things the greater the opportunity for creating meaningful, patron-
centered services to benefit all of our communities!
