New Tickets CAD Version - Preliminary

This new version will have no, repeat NO change in functionality from its immediate predecessor,  3.31A Beta - 05/28/19

Rather, it's a technical upgrade to remove some of the errors and deprecations that have caused problems that some of you have reported.  Accordingly, if you have a working installation of the above-noted version, this won't be of much interest to you.

I would like to hear from those of you who have problems running 3.31A Beta, and see whether this helps, before I post it for general download.

Hi Arnie!  I would like to try out your new version. I was unsuccessful with my installation of tickets_331A_052819 from Sourceforge https://sourceforge.net/projects/openises/files/  .

Can you provide a link to the new version? I don't see it on SourceForge, and ticketscad.org appears to be a parked domain. I promise to report back with results.

FYI, I got the "'Incorrect DATETIME value: 'NULL'' on login error mentioned in the other thread here. I got past that by changing the statement to "IS NOT NULL" but that just led to another error. I'm going to try downgrading MySQL to 5.7 (from 8.x) to see if that helps.

Paul, I'm close on that new version, but give me another day or so and I'll ship it to you for a pre-release trial.

Yes, that NULL mishandling is one of the several features removed.

Arnie, I tried out 3.4 on my system running  MariaDB 10.3.32 (like mysql 5.5.5) on php 7.4.3, Apache 2.4.41, Ubuntu 20.04, in Firefox.  Mostly 3.4 worked fine, with no install or login problem.  Because 3.31 already was working here with MariaDB, this doesn't confirm whether the login issues discussed in that other thread were fixed for MySQL 8 or not. I want to test with mysql 8, but ran into difficulty switching back-- maybe tomorrow.

I noticed that info about 3.31 was removed from about.php and about_3_30_beta.txt.  I thought I should mention it.

Here are some issues I noticed trying to exercise the software, in case there's anything you want to look at. Any of this could be just on my system. If you have a bug/ticket system I'd be happy to enter there insteadl.

1. Config > Teams > New Team entry >  (enter fields) > Submit:
Error in '/tables.php', line '1528'
Additional info: 'mysql_error'

2. Config > Member List > Add Member > (enter some fields) > Save:

3. Links menu button has no effect

4. Setup Tool Responder Types. Choosing icon on 2nd line shows color change of the icon on first line. First and third Icon choosing is ok.

5. Add Facility. Type and Status popups are empty. (by comparison, 3.3 had "example" values.)  After creating values in config, worked fine.

6. Add Facility: "Handle" does not have an asterisk but is required according to warning dialog.

7. The map on Add Facility page can't be zoomed in past continent scale (yeah, I can't zoom closer than seeing the whole US). The plus button in the map shows gray/disabled unless I zoom out further (hemisphere scale more or less). Lat/Lng fields seem to be locked from entry. For comparison, map zoom is ok on New Call page,

I dunno how soon I can take a good look into fixes, so it's triage time.  Pls do let me know if you have any show-stoppers among them.

I know what its like to maintain a massive app like this - I’m impressed! I’m only learning and evaluating it right now, so your real users matter most. Those two php errors are most significant, but if you and other folks aren’t seeing them, no big deal. I hope to have more test results later today.

I did some additional installation testing. I can install and run the app with mariadb 10.3 or mysql 5.5, but mysql versions after 5.5 do not run properly. On mysql 5.7, after admin login, the menu buttons are missing. They appear on reload, but almost all the pages are blank. mysql 8.0 throws a SQL error immediately on login. Also, omitting the Google API key during install seemed to prevent the situation page from loading.  I got the team entry SQL error again, so I'm not sure if that works on any database version.

I'll keep evaluating with mariadb 10.3. I have set up my test server with docker containers to make it fairly easy to switch databases for testing. Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to try.
