Folks, subject version is 11_A is now available for download at the
usual site,
http://groups.google.com/group/open-source-cad/files

The zip - file 'patch_11_08.zip' - is a cumulative patch set; apply
it to your installation of 2_10_e_beta, or if you're not current, onto
a working installation of that version.

There's also a pdf there - file 'new features_11_08.pdf' - with
screen-shots and text describing the new stuff that's gone into this
release.

While 'Facilities' is the tall pole in this particular tent, there's
lots more included. See the 'new features document for that, and also
the 'about_2_11_a_beta.txt' file that's included in the zip. You'll
see capabilities to handle scheduled incidents, run mileage, upgraded
Call Board operation, a full-screen map, etc. The 'deprecated'
problem that some of you have encountered has had that feature
removed, as well as numerous others corrected.

The UK's Andy Harvey has done the heavy lifting on this release, as
well as the 'about ... .' pdf. Lots of talent and dedication there,
and a needed addition to the dev't team.

All.

New versions of the files uploaded for anyone who has already
downloaded them. Only change is in the text files explaining the
changes and the New Features document. My fault, sorry forgot to
update them in the final stages of the testing.

Arnie, One thing I noticed is when updating tables like the Incident
Types or Unit Types Tables, when clicking the edit button for a row,
it gives you a reset button and a finished button. The problem is that
when you click finished, it brings you back to the configuration page
and does not update the table. Otherwise so far it looks Great!

Arnie, after doing a little more trouble shooting, I encountered the
following:

------------------------------------

-update feature for editing the tables does not work well.

-Cannot delete or edit the first row in unit status's. Popup shows up
saying "Disallowed"

-After adding a mobile unit with no tracking, the Units table Only
shows the Situation Map, and the table does not show on the Units
page.

-When updating a dispatch in the Call Board under "Edit this call
assignment", it resets the units status to the default value every
time you go to update a dispatch with out touching it.

-On the Situation page, the incident feild should probably contain the
address and not the "incident name" because the incident type(nature)
and the Incident Name are pretty much the same information. So instead
of Incident Name, just maybe use the address. This would also have to
be changed in the Call Board from Incident "Name" to Incident "type"
because the address feild already shows up in the call Board, not the
nature of the call.

-IMO, the incident name should disappear all together and just be an
incident number that would show under the details of a call, not on
the situation page or call board. To sum up what I meant in the
previous paragraph, the situation page may be better if it showed the
Incident Address and the Nature of the Call. (not getting rid of the
units table underneath the incident call table)

Thanks Matt

This is a major update and a lot of work. Shows a lot of dedication
on everyone's part. Can't thank everyone enough.

Noticed that a few bugs are starting to come in. Once these are worked
out we'll update the main web site.

Again, lots of great work here, and it really expands the capabilities
of Tickets. Kudos to everyone on this.

Matt, hiya and thanks.

1.  Unit status value of 'Available' is protected against any revision or deletion. (Is that a problem?)  All others shd work OK, although deleting any status value that's in use is disallowed, of course.

2.  A mobile unit with no tracking source is a problem that needs attention.  Agreed.

3.  Agreed also that editing a unit status in  the CB isn't handled correctly.

4.   WRT incident names, we're currently putting the nature of the call as the default - you may revise it to meet local SOP's -  but there's some work needed.  People have asked for some numbering system and a few - incl yours have been discussed here.  Look for some upgrades in this arena.

Arnine, thanks for the quick response! and about the "Available"
status, its not too much of a problem, I would just like the ability
to change or delete it if someone wanted to. but ill leave that up for
anyone else's opinion.

Thanks, Matt

I need some basic direction on updating a current E version.

Before this latest version I tried to update to an F.
It appears to me that the update files only have files that changed and not the entire package of files.
I could not figure out a real easy way to copy into the directories only those files that changed. It is easy in the root directory, but harder once you have nested folders to do a move.
I thought I had it all figured out but when running tickets after the update I received some errors. Files missing then after fixing that an SQL connection issue.

So I started from scratch.

I am guessing I am missing a simpler way.
I currently have version 10_E running and want to upgrade to the latest. I am also thinking that starting fresh would be good. Fresh clean database, and fresh install.

Kevin, I use Winzip to extract the files from the updates.  It has a check-box for 'use folder names', and with that checked, it will place the files where they belong, sub-directory-wise.

I expect that any other de-compressor will have an option like that.  What are you using?

We've set up the current release so taht existing databases are left intact.  So empty or not is yr choice.  The new zip is the updated files ONLY!  You'll need a working base to apply it to.

Matt, can give us an idea of an operational situation where you'd want not to have 'Available' as a status value?

Hi Arnie,

I am using a account on a server at a distance and not on a local laptop or computer. I am not at the server with the OS and access to the volumes/drives to use winzip through the OS gui. So FTP access or using a webbased File manager access is what I have with my account. So I do not have the "use folder names" option as within winzip.

Basically what I did was upload the zip file to the server in a temp directory, then I did an unzip and then move the files to the same location on the server. Like I said it works great, until the nested folders and that takes awhile and gives you an opportunity to screw up.

I guess I can download all the files on the current server, then unzip the files in the patch, build my new all together and update.

Kevin

Arnie,
Actually, 'available' is included in almost all the status's I know of
for units. The only thing is I dont use "groups" to sort my status'
there for it would just be easier if I could edit it and do my on kind
of thing with that, but like I said its not that big of a deal.
