Hi group, I am looking for some help getting traccar working right. I have it installed but now when I try to login it just keeps looping.

Traccar is heavy with java. Be sure you have a recent version of java installed on your server. And, because it is a java web server it is particular about which browser accesses it.

Make sure you have a working Traccar install and a working tickets install before you try tracking Traccar clients.

I assume you mean logging in to your Traccar server is where you encounter the loop. Try a different browser. Also, have you asked for assistance on the Traccar support forums?

I do have the most current Java on our server.  When I get the loop is when I try and login to setup units. I see the map in the background and all but it just keeps trying to login and open and just keeps looping

He is kind of short with people. I have found that Traccar is not all that difficult to set up and goes smoothly once you get any bugs worked out.

Are you using the default install or have you made changes to the configuration? Using the default database or have you changed the config for MySQL?

Hi Mark, it has been setup for MySQL but everything is all original. I was able to do the initial register then I tried to login with that and now it just looks.  If needed I can provide you the URL off group.

I'll be glad to take a look at it. mdtayl...@gmail.com

Are you using your own local server or a server provided by a hosting company?
Do you have SSH command line access to the server?
Can you log in to mysql using the username and password you assigned to Tickets using a command line or other web process?
Can you get to the log files for traccar to view?

Were you able to get this resolved? I am also working with a fresh install of Tickets and Traccar, and am encountering the same thing. I can log into traccar, and that's working just fine. The tickets config matches the traccar config regarding the mySQL settings.

Hi Adam, no I have not been able to get it to work. I got as far as registering and then tried to sign in and it just keeps looping from the map to the login and won't stop.

Can you verify that you can log into Traccar's web interface and see the tracking data there?

For me, I am not getting any data back into Tickets. I did ensure its running on PHP 5.6, the mysql credentials are the same as the traccar app, so im not sure where the disconnect is on my end. If I log into Tickets, I also will get the spinning motion until it times out.

Just to point out an observation I had from my new installation of Tickets, I had to manually empty the units table from the auto-created units in the database. I'm not sure what the issue was, but when I deleted the auto-added units from the fresh install of Tickets, my manually created units showed up. I am not sure how this may interface with Traccar, just passing along something I observed in Tickets.

Ok, no I got as far at the very first sign up from the admin admin temporary on and then tried to login with the user I registered from the Traccar link and it just loops between that login and the full US map and keeps going until you close the web page.

Hi Mike,

I didn't install the sample data, and when I looked at the tables the only entry was for the one unit I created. It was in the responders field,

Adam, if I remember correctly you are using the modified version of the Traccar Web interface. Are you still using that? If so, and you have upgraded Tickets, have you made the changes in the remotes.inc.php file for the Modified web interface?

Hi Mark,

I am no longer using the modified Branch as it's not longer in active development. We actually have a new server and thus everything is a fresh install.

Thanks,

Adam

Adam, check and be certain that the CALLSIGN field in the database (responder table) contains the exact same contents on your Traccar identifier. It is case sensitive.

You can also verify this on the UNITS screen except the field is not identified. On the Tracking line the first field should be selected to Traccar, and the field on the right is the callsign field and should match the Traccar identifier. Again, case is sensitive.

Obviously, traccar needs to be working (I think you said yours is working,) but it must also have current data at the start so make sure you traccar client is on and sending data at about 1 minutes intervals.

You can also check the responder table in your tickets database for latitude and longitude, updated and status_updated fields for recent dates/times. If this information is not there then you are not able to retrieve the data from the traccar database and write it to your tickets database.

I have also had problems getting Traccar data into Tickets. I  noticed that the table names in the traccar database have tc_ before the table name.  The query in the do_traccar function did not have the tc_ so I added it but still no luck.   I added some logging to the do_traccar and get_current functions in the remotes.inc.php file, it appears that neither of those two functions are getting called.  Not sure if I have missed a setting somewhere, any help would be appreciated.

Doug,  the ONLY edits you should need to make would be in the do_traccar function in the remotes.inc.php file.

What version of Traccar do you have? I need to see if they have made a database change with a new version. This is usually seen when you use a SQL database on a shared server although it usually only alters the database name and not every table name.

This may account for others difficulties as well and we need to address it soon.

Doug,

Thanks for the heads up. Traccar DID rename much of the table names! Everyone's install will fail when they upgrade to Traccar version 4! We will have to update the traccar function in Tickets to accommodate.

As a workaround, installing Traccar version 3.16 should cure the issue for now, but if you downgrade you will have to delete the Traccar database first so that you will end up with the old database structure.

Yikes.

Thanks for the heads up. I was just going to check the tables this afternoon.

I'll wait for the update on this end. I have a lot of data in my current install of traccar.

Thanks for looking into this!

There were only two instances of table names that needed to be changed (that I could see) to get the new Traccar working with Tickets. It needs a lot more testing to be sure there are no other occurrences. Please let me know if anyone is having errors or problems with traccar user locations. It will take me a couple of days of following our members around after they are asked to turn on their traccars for testing.

So, for those that have a WORKING Tickets installation you can replace your /tickets/incs/remotes.inc.php file with the attached.

PLEASE make a backup or make sure you have your original installation files in a safe place, make a backup copy, or whatever you need to do, and make sure you are replacing the correct file....in the correct place!

[web root]/tickets/incs/remotes.inc.php

This is installed and working for me at the present time. I downloaded and updated Traccar today, and my Tickets install is 3.30A Beta 5/15/2018 using Apache 2.4.6 and php 7.2.8

I mark, I have just installed the traccar program to the server.  The install was successful, but when I tried to register for the first time it said that was completed.  I then tried to login to traccar with the user I just created and it starts to load then keeps looping between the login and the map view and won't stop.

Lee, take a look in the Traccar log files at /opt/traccar/logs

There may be some hints there as to why that is occurring.

Are you still using the default database? Has it ever worked? I.e. Did it start doing that only after you set it to use MySQL?

Lee, What is the platform? Windows, Linux?
What about the java version?
Is the server accessible from the web?
Are you using FQDN or IP to access?

Do you get messages when you start or stop the server?

Can you get to a command line and stop the server and restart it?

sudo /opt/traccar/bin/stopDaemon.sh
sudo /opt/traccar/bin/startDaemon.sh

See if there is any obvious error messages and recheck the logs.

Lee, since you are accessing Traccar over a secure connection it presents a new set of problems.  Specifically that I have never done that before and only know that there are some weird instructions on how to make that work.

Did you follow the instructions at Traccar.org closely on how to set that up?

Ok let me browse the Traccar forum in the morning and see if I can pick up any clues as to why this is happening.

Any chance you can do an install not in a secured server?

No because of the info we have on our system.  also when trying to run something unsecured the system throws all kinds of fits.

Lee, Someone else has received the same error message as you did. He fixed it by following the directions again for installing on a secure server. I don’t think the instructions are perfectly clear. Do you have all of the proxypass lines in your Apache config file for your main server on port 443?

Lee, here is the complete post of the fellow that experienced the same problem as yourself. Maybe this will give you a clue...

=======================================

Hello,

I tried to install Traccar on a Debian server, where I have other services.
When I connect to myserver.com/traccar/ I have the following popup error :

HTTP 401 Unauthorized - WebApplicationException (SecurityRequestFilter:108 < ...)

and I'm back on the logging page. I don't know if my server is correctly configured. I've added some lines on the Apache2 config file to reroute myserver.com/traccar/ to 127.0.0.1:8082 with these lines :

<Location /traccar>
    ProxyPass http://127.0.0.1:8082
    ProxyPassReverse http://127.0.0.1:8082
</Location>

I'm not an expert on these field (neither on English, sorry for the mistakes), so I don't know if it's the correct way to proceed. I've just used another service running on my server as an example.

Is my config ok ? Is there someone who had the same issue ?

Thanks for your help,
Thibaud

===========================

thibaud 6 days ago

I've found the problem !

My .conf Apache file was not properly set. I was using <Location>, but I just have to use infos on these pages :
https://www.traccar.org/secure-connection/ and https://www.traccar.org/forums/topic/reverse-proxy-apache-with-subdirectory/page/2/
I don't have to use <Location>. I rewrite ProxyPass lines in my <VirtualHost *:433>, adding the lines I forgot.

Hope this could help someone !

Thank you for this awesome tool.
