Good evening all,
Here are the details for two aforementioned events in March: Ben's test and John's mini-seminar visit.
Ben Wood will be testing for nidan (2nd degree black belt) the morning of Saturday March 14, one week from today. First, Steve Sensei will teach a special aikido class - the class will not involve falling and is open to all, including brand new students to our school. Then Ben will test after a short (5, 10, 15m max) break after class, around 11am or a little before. Please come participate and celebrate if you can.
The following weekend, March 21-22, we will be visited by John Presley Sensei. John will teach Saturday and Sunday mornings:
Sat 945-1045 open hand, 11-12 bokken
Sun 945-1045 open hand, 11-12 jo
This mini-seminar will be appropriate for intermediate and advanced students (who know how to fall); brand new students who are interested are encouraged to watch any of the classes the wish. Please join us, if you're able, at this early Spring practice intensive with John. And please drop me a line with any questions you may have. If you have a yudansha or yukusha book, you may bring it for a seminar stamp.
These two events make for a full March. Looking ahead to the Spring, we have a number of other accomplished students who will be testing this May. More on that as dates and times firm up. For those maintaining rank with USAF, it is also time to begin collecting those USAF dues; more on that later as well.
Thanks,
-Mike
