Hi All,

I wanted to give the OSF installer a try on AWS micro tier and their versions of Ubuntu are 11.10/12.04
Unfortunately, the php installation does not work (fails quite early while running the installer).

I'm not familiar with Ubuntu and not sure how to fix dependencies and other grievances Ubuntu has.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Diana

Hi Diana
I would strongly suggest you to use Ubuntu 10.04. It is the only one
currently supported by the installer script.

Eventually it will be upgraded for the latest LTS which is 12.04, but I
couldn't say when for now.

Thanks,

Fred

Hi Diana,
Speaking from some experience installing medium-size drupal profiles on AWS,
I would suggest you consider shelling out for the AWS small tier. It costs a bit
more but you will save yourself a lot of stress on load times, database crashes,
and system reboots. Note that I have never installed OSF myself, but other drupal
setups having dozens of modules and libraries.
Best of luck,

Hi Ted,

It makes sense. Any rough costs you could share for the small tier per month?

I've found a couple AMI images with Ubuntu 10.04, so I'll have another go with the installer.

I've configured the OSF stack manually on Snow Leopard before and it wasn't fun, so I really look forward
to sit back and watch the installation (Thank you Fred)!

Best,
Diana

Small is 0.08$/hour (versus 0.02$ for micro).
you can even turn the machine off when you're not using it, and the charges stop until you restart it.
