The "old" wisdom says there are two ways to ask a question: the right
way and the wrong way. You might've ended up in the wrong way ;-) And
open source developers would tell you HOW to ask a question absolutely
matters.
If a question is too general, it usually means that you need do your
homework to confine it. And an English major would have to work
against a strong stereotype that's perceived to be clueless to
technologies.
Show people what you got. That's somewhere to start.
