Greetings from the Anne-Frank-Gymnasium in Werne, NW, Germany.

during the past few days I tried to set up our EV3s with ev3dev. Everything worked fine, I activated the openrobertalab.service, connected to wifi and finally got a connection key displayed on the brick. However, I was not able to connect to the brick in NEPO. An error message appeared an said the type of robot differs from the selected one and I should select the matching one in the main menu which - of cause - I did (EV3 -> EV3dev).

I am aware that the ev3dev support is beta but it already worked for me some weeks ago.

By the way: At first I thought our school's wifi blocks some vital IP-ports for NEPO and therefore I tried my private wifi and a cellphone's hotspot but that didn't help. Which port does NEPO use for its connection?

(some more suggested tags would be useful, tried EV3 and ev3dev but they aren't suggested)

I solved this issue by renaming my robots back to hostname "ev3dev". Seems like the hostname identifies the type of robot. But having multiple EV3s I would like to give everyone a unique hostname.
Initially I renamed them to let them send messages to each other. Now I wonder if sending messages is possible with ev3dev after all. How do they identify each other if all of them have the same hostname? Does the missing bluetooth support in ev3dev mean there is no possibility to send messages? But the messages block is available in NEPO when choosing ev3dev. Or does it mean it may be possible in the (past beta status) future?
It would be a real show-stopper to me if sending messages will not work in ev3dev. Maybe leJOS has to bridge the garb longer than I thought.

I´ve been wrong with the missing bluetooth support. But actually, my robots are not visible to each other when I start a scan in the brickman UI (everyone is set to visible of cause).
